Independents in London is a fast growing network of people looking to stand as either independent individuals or independent parties in local London elections.

We promote and raise the profile of London independents to London communities as well as media outlets, relevant groups and other organisations to ensure independents have a strong voice and are heard.

Independents in London is not a political party.  It is a network that works with independent candidates and independent parties in London and to help, encourage and support more independents to stand in London elections.

Many local councillors across the capital and in their wards are making decisions to meet their own needs or those of their national Party, not the needs of the local communities they are meant to serve.

We want to change this by showing that councillors  who are independent can represent and stand up better and stronger for their communities than existing national parties.

Vote for local independents to change local for the better.

We were established in summer 2021 by Leslie Bunder from Ealing Independents and Lambeth local campaigner Ben Rymer.

Since then we have grown with additional people who share the same vision for independents in London.

We help and support each other by developing a platform and network for independent local candidates and parties contesting London elections to learn from each other how to represent their local London communities and take part in London elections.

This is through an umbrella alliance of like-minded people standing united in their quest to ensure Londoners in their local boroughs are heard so that local residents in each and every part of London have local people and local parties that will place them first ahead of national politics.

National party politics has been allowed to damage London’s boroughs and hurt residents and local businesses alike.

We are people from all parts of London’s communities and are united to making London better after years of not being listened to by the established parties who have shown total disregard to residents and local businesses.

Like so many residents and businesses, we are fed up with the way many existing councils have been run. They often fail to listen to local people, not be open or transparent and provide very little accountability.

We will be challenging the established parties by championing true local candidates and local parties who are not influenced by party politics but instead are driven to making their London borough a better place for residents and businesses.

Who We Are

These independent candidates will be standing to be councillors in local London borough and City of London elections to ensure that residents and businesses get improved and better services to improve life and make it better, safer, cleaner and greener for all.

The independent candidates and parties represent all 32 boroughs and the City of London across the capital.

Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Bexley, Brent, Bromley, Camden, City of London, City of Westminster, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth.

Independents in London is here to support the importance independents can play in local elections.  Over the years, many local councillors and politicians have often placed their own personal agendas ahead of local residents or have allowed their national party agendas to dominate over local people needs.

Independents in London wants to see London become a better place for everyone to live, work and study in.

Local independent candidates offer an alternative to the existing political parties who place national politics ahead of local people and issues.

The next local elections in London for councillors will take place in May 2022.

We want to support and help local candidates in time for the next election by joining together, networking and sharing our knowledge and skills so that we have strong independents across all 32 boroughs of London and the City of London.
